Titles - The name of your website.
Meta Tag Descriptions - Descriptions of your website.
Keywords - Words that pertain to your website.
Page Copy - Page length and wording.
Frames - Optimizing your page frames.
Alt Images - Image descriptions on your site.
Optimizing with titles.
Titles are one of the key tools in search engine placement.
Tiles are what your website is about. The main idea of the website.
The script will look like this. <title>Your Web Information here</title>
We recommend you only use 50-80 words for the title.
This will go between the <head> & </head> codes.
If you can make sure you use some keywords in your title. Here I will use cookies as my main keyword..
Example:
<TITLE>My favorite cookies. Cookies By Grandma.</TITLE>
<META NAME="TITLE" CONTENT="My favorite cookies. Cookies By Grandma">
Optimizing with Descriptions of your site.
Meta Descriptions tell what your site is all about.
Here is an example of what the description will look like.
<META NAME="DESCRIPTION" CONTENT="Do you like delicious cookies. Come
find out how these cookies can visit your home and tummy :o)">
Notice how again I added my main keyword into my description.
Optimizing with keywords.
Keywords is a great way to get listed in more search engine searches.
You want to use every word you can that pertains to your site.
Example:
<META NAME="KEYWORDS" CONTENT="cookies,recipes,freebies,Moms,cooking,cook
books,chocolate chips,flour,bakery,">
Optimizing your page copy.
Page copy is the writing on your website.
Search engines like at least 200 words.
Maybe the first site is just an entry way. Try what you can do to add at least 200 words.
This helps the search engines to "read" the site.
Optimizing your frames.
Frames are not good for search engine submissions.
There is not a lot we can say about frames here.
You really may want to see what you can do to get rid of frames.
If you cant here is a script to optimize your frames.
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE>Example Framed Site</TITLE>
</HEAD>
<FRAMESET cols="150,*">
<FRAME name="contents" target="main">
<FRAME name="main">
<NOFRAMES>
Optimized page content goes here for best results.
</NOFRAMES>
</FRAMESET>
</HTML>
Each image on your page can include a keyword phrase or two that relates to the image. This text will also show up & help those that may have their images turned off when visiting your site. This does not work for all engines, but it certainly does not hurt so we recommend you give it a try where you can. It can also help your listings too!
Example:
<IMG SRC="mylogo.gif" width="10" height="10"
alt="This is a picture of my grandmas cookies.">
You can add the "alt" attribute to any image on your page.
We do not recommend using more than a brief sentence or two to describe an image.
Roll mouse over picture for effect.
